Students Organize Birthday Wishes in a Box on our Day of Service and Learning!

For several years, Wheatley has worked with Birthday Wishes, a wonderful organization that helps to bring birthday celebrations to homeless children. Its mission statement declares:

Our goal is to ensure that children experiencing the trauma of homelessness have the opportunity to celebrate their birthday joyfully, surrounded by family, friends and others who care.

As part of this year’s Day of Service and Learning, Wheatley students decorated boxes to be filled with birthday gifts, handmade birthday cards and various treats to be used for one of the birthday parties.

Under the guidance and leadership of Mrs. Suzanne Gluck and Mrs. Danielle Calvagno, students spent hours carefully decorating these celebratory boxes. This year, the only request was that the boxes include some birthday cards and a set of birthday hats! Students finished the day confident that their work will help bring a smile to someone in a difficult situation!
