On Wednesday, 20 October, Wheatley’s 12th Day of Service and Learning took place. Last year’s Day of Service was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, and ongoing concerns necessitated that the bulk of our activities took place outdoors. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, and we were treated to a spectacular October day!
Community service is an important part of our school and community. On our Day of Service and Learning, students and faculty work side-by-side in approximately three dozen different service activities throughout Long Island.
The day would not be possible without the incredible efforts of our Day of Service Coordinators: Jason Craven and Timothy Schwalm. The enthusiasm of our amazing faculty is the key to making the activities run. Additionally, the support of our PTO was crucial to finding so many outdoor activities for students this year. Finally, our community provided so much support through donated supplies! A special “Thank You” to our good friends at Zaino’s Nursery for providing essential supplies at an exceptionally competitive price!
