At the beginning of last month’s February Recess, our Wheatley Debate Team traveled to Boston in order to compete in the 46th Annual Harvard National High School Invitational Forensics Tournament. The Wheatley Debate Team is in its second year, and it is filled with plenty of talented and enthusiastic students.
During the tournament weekend, the five Wheatley teams had many ties and winning streaks. One team, Aarushi and Siddhant Jain, did an exceptional job and broke into the triple Octafinals. The team members were thrilled to see many familiar faces from past tournaments, including teams from Chaminade, Great Neck, Syosset and Jericho.
In addition to participating in the tournament, the students also took a tour of Harvard University, walked at Harvard Square and visited Quincy Market.
None of this would have been possible without the leadership of Pilar Principe-Franco, the Debate Advisor!
