On Friday, 21 February, 24 Wheatley students and our three faculty chaperones returned from a nine-day adventure in France. We are so thankful that we faculty members (for this trip, Mr. Henley, Mr. Craven and Ms. Calio) willing to spend time chaperoning students on these wonderful learning opportunities. Mr. Henley was kind enough to provide regular updates and photos during the group’s adventures. Here are the final two updates!
Day 7: From Nîmes to Nice
“We left Nîmes and an enjoyable stop in St-Paul-de-Vence, a hilltop village where Marc Chagall resided. We then made our way to a boulodrome in Cagnes-sur-Mer where kids were able to play pétanque and watch the locals engage in this challenging and fun game. Finally, went to Nice where we got a gorgeous view of the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains.”
Day 8: Nice with a Visit to Monaco
“On our last day in France, the students started the day sampling and purchasing local products from the Marché aux fleurs in Nice: cheeses, cured meats, fruits, breads and olives. These items were then shared for a potluck lunch at the top of the exotic garden of Eze along the Mediterranean coast. What a great experience! After a quick visit to Monaco, students were also able to visit the Fragonard perfume factory and an authentic confiserie in Nice for local candies and chocolates. We had a great time recounting stories during our last dinner together.”
