Wheatley seniors, sisters and tennis doubles partners, Kaya and Kavina Amin, took 2nd Place at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls Tennis Tournament this past weekend in Latham, NY. The girls won all doubles matches on Saturday and Sunday before their championship match on Monday morning.
Although the pair lost the championship match, both girls both received All-County and All-State recognition as well as being named the second best doubles team in New York State. With this feat, they made Wheatley history by becoming the first doubles team to compete in the NYS Doubles Championship match. Congratulations to this dynamic duo and to Coach Lim on a great season!
The story does not end there, as Kaya and Kavina Amin will continue their journey by participating in the NYS Federation Girls Tennis Championship this Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Sportime Randall’s Island, NY. They will be the only doubles team representing the NYSPHSAA! The semifinal match is against the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) team, and if our dynamic duo advance, they will play the winners of the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) and the Asia International Schools Athletics Association (AISAA) matches. Best of luck girls!
