Earlier this month, seven of our Wheatley student-musicians were recognized by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). Four students were recognized as All-State musicians, and three students were recognized as alternate All-State musicians. These students were chosen out of thousands of students who auditioned for this honor at solo and ensemble festivals throughout New York State last spring.
Congratulations to the following students:
- Aidan Cozzolino (French horn)
- Allison Keller (viola)
- Eric Ness (cello)
- Elizabeth Yuen (violin)
- Kaileigh Fiorillo (alternate, soprano)
- Layla Jarrahy (alternate, violin)
- Eliana Li (alternate, violin)
The All-State students will play with Symphonic Band or String Orchestra at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in December. Congratulations to Aidan, Allison, Eric, Elizabeth, Kaileigh, Layla and Eliana! Thank you to our music teachers, Dr. Ho, Mrs. Luftig and Mr. Orlovsky for supporting the students.
