Kaya and Kavina Amin, Wheatley sophomores, have earned All-State status in girl’s tennis. At the 2017 Nassau County Girls Tennis Championships Kaya and Kavina finished second in the double’s competition. After completing spectacular regular seasons as Wheatley’s top single’s players, Kaya and Kavina joined forces to compete against the top doubles players in Nassau County. Through the grueling rounds over the two-day tournament, Kaya and Kavina defeated higher seeded players to advance to the County Finals, which earned them All-State recognition.
Kaya and Kavina competed on the Wheatley Varsity Tennis team as first and second singles this season. They are highly ranked tennis players with unlimited talent and commitment to excellence. Kaya and Kavina will represent Wheatley and Nassau County at the New York State Public High School Tennis Championships in Albany on October 28-30 at the Tri-City Tennis Facility.
Congratulations and good luck to Kaya and Kavina! Congratulations to Coach Joseph Virgilio as well! (Congratulations to Senior Michelle Raja, who also competed in the Nassau County Championships.)
