Near the end of May, over 200 students from eleven Nassau County schools descended upon Calhoun High School to participate in the Bellmore-Merrick Challenge, a field day of fun activities designed to engage some of our most special students and forge connections among students from all over Nassau. Accompanying these students were an equal number of student “buddies” who encouraged and supported them throughout the day.
Students competed in a variety of traditional field day activities, including, for example, relays, an inflatable obstacle course, jumping competitions and throwing contests.
Staff members and students from Wheatley accompanied our Life Skills students for what proved to be a wonderful day of activity and camaraderie.
