Congratulations to juniors Adeel Anwar and Hailey Ardizzone whose work was recently published in the National Spanish Honor Society’s literary magazine, “Albricias.”
Hailey’s article entitled, “Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney,” discusses their friendship, collaboration and how they influenced each other’s work. Hailey was awarded $250.00 for her 1st place distinction. You can read Hailey’s article on Page 21 (see below).
Adeel’s poem, “¿Qué es esta lengua? (What is this language?)” describes how the Spanish artist, Salvador Dalí, used art to resist the power of Spain’s dictator, Francisco Franco. Adeel added that, “By using his art as a means of communicating and protesting, Dalí truly showed all the power of art.” You can read Adeel’s poem on Page 20 (see below).
Special thanks to Wheatley Spanish teacher Mary Martinez for incorporating such a creative project in her 11th grade Spanish classes and encouraging her students to submit their work!
