Twenty-two Wheatley students spent Monday at the Salute to Women in STEM Conference at Long Island’s Cradle of Aviation Museum and Education Center. The purpose of the conference is to motivate young girls to consider a career in STEM. The participants had the fortune of hearing from a panel of women involved in STEM related fields, with each panel member discussing her specific career field and how she got there.
The students were accompanied by two of our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program teachers, Patrick Hurley and Thomas Stork. Although students missed the first day of Showdown2017 acivities, the excitement and enthusiasm generated by the conference was well worth it!
