Our Robotics Team, the Wheatley Cybercats, competed recently in an invitational meet, winding up as finalists! Thanks to members Sufia Ainechi and Elan Mizhiritsky, I am able to share some photos and a writeup of the event!
On Saturday, November 19, the Wheatley Cybercats placed as finalists in an FRC Stronghold Invitational at Half Hollow Hills. After a somewhat slow start, the Cybercats gave their best performance when it mattered the most! With a strong drive team, and a new makeshift defense mechanism added to the robot, the Cybercats were able to fly through the Quarterfinals and Semifinals, winning each best 2 out of 3 round. Entering the finals, the Cybercats were stacked against the odds, yet managed to win the first game in a tie break. The competition ended when the Cybercas lost in the finals, 2-1 — each match being nail-bitingly close.
Although the Cybercats weren’t able to take home the first place trophy, they still earned the value of competition experience, inter-team relationships, and intrinsic confidence boost to compete well later this year in the unannounced 2017 FRC Regional competition at Hofstra.
Thanks to Elan and Sufia for these photos and videos!
