DECA Students Compete in Local Competition!

Ms. Kristen Malik, our Business Teacher, shared the following description of her recent competition with students from our DECA club.

On October 28th, 15 Wheatley DECA members traveled to Plainview-Old Bethpage High School to compete in their Annual Business Challenge. The students competed in groups of 3 among 35  teams from several Long Island schools.  We had one team qualify for the final round, in which the students had to do a 2 minute elevator pitch on the business that they created. They were judged by 5 professionals who took into consideration their business idea, presentations, and their pitch. Juniors Brett Bloomberg, Jona Chorost and Evan Gitlitz came in 5th place overall! It was a tough competition, and  we were very impressed with all of our participants.

We are now looking forward to using this experience to help us succeed at our upcoming DECA Regional Competition!

Thank you to Ms. Malik for the write-up and some of the photos!
