Adena Bernot Commits to Bates!

The Wheatley Athletic Program is honored to recognize the accomplishments of Adena Bernot. Adena has signed a letter of commitment to continue her impressive academic and soccer career at Bates College, in the NESCAC Conference.

Adena Bernot is a returning “Senior Captain” for the Wildcats, and a returning “All-Class 2014” and “All-Conference 2013” member of our varsity soccer team. Adena helps to organize practices and takes care of pre-game responsibilities. As our most complete player, she performs at the highest level on the field and continually adds spirit and charisma, keeping the team motivated and enthused. She has been a major contributor on our 2013, 2014, and 2015 “back to back to back” Nassau County Championship Girls Soccer Teams. This year, Adena was named “All-County 2015” and “League Most Outstanding Player.”\ Adena was selected “All State Player 2015” and was voted the recipient of the prestigious “Sue Link Scholarship” for on field and academic excellence. This year, she helped lead our team to a 9-1 League AB 3 Championship.

Adena’s outstanding transcript speaks for itself. She is an award-winning musician, playing viola, having scored in the “A” range in NYSSMA and having received Gold and Silver medals as a member of our Honors String Ensemble. Last year, she received the American Chemical Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in High School Chemistry, and she also received the distinction “AP Scholar with Honors.” She has extensive community service and volunteer experience as a member of our National Honor Society. Adena finds a way to make a difference.

In March, Adena signed her Letter of Intent to attend Bates College to compete in soccer.  Her academic scholarship and athletic prowess will allow Adena to continue her pursuit of excellence. We are all very proud of her. Congratulations to Adena and her family.
