Fifteen Wheatley students spent Friday at the Women in STEM Conference at Long Island’s Cradle of Aviation Museum and Education Center. The purpose of the conference is to motivate young girls to consider a career in STEM. The participants had the fortune of hearing from a panel of women involved in STEM related fields, with each panel member discussing her specific career field and how she got there.
The students were accompanied by two of our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program, Patrick Hurley and Thomas Stork. Based upon the enthusiasm of the students upon their return to Wheatley, it seems that the day was an unqualified success in terms of motivating and inspiring these young women!
