Our Wheatley Travelers have completed five days in France. As written by our French teacher and travel guide, Jean-François Henley, here is a summary of Day 5!
The weather starts to get a bit warmer as we move towards Provence in the south of France. Today we visited the beautiful walled city of Avignon, where seven popes resided in the 14th century. Next was the Pont du Gard which is an ancient Roman aqueduct that dates back to around 60 AD. We then moved on to the city of Nîmes with its beautiful Roman arena and Maison Carrée, which is a Roman Temple dedicated to the grandsons of Augustus, first Emperor of the Roman Empire.
