On Wednesday, hundreds of students from across Long Island descended upon the Crest Hollow Country Club to participate in the annual Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF). This year, hundreds of students from across Long Island demonstrated hundreds of projects in nearly 20 different categories — all with the hope of earning an invitation to participate in the Round 2 Competition in March.
The following Wheatley students participated in this year’s event:
Here are the titles and where they did their research:
- Arihant Jain (Researched at Touro College)
“The Effect of Substrate Manipulation and Magnetic Field Stimulation on the Production of Myotubes from Cyprinus Carpio Skeletal Muscle Tissue in vitro” - Andrew Zuckerman (Researched at Stony Brook University, GARCIA Program)
“Semi-Automatic Segmentation and Automatic Classification of Breast Lesions in Low-Resolution Ultrasound Images - Joy Bestourous (in house project)
“Grape Seed Extract Decreases Tumor Susceptibility and Expression of Cep-1 by Increasing XPA Expression in Caenorhabditis elegans” - Jeffrey Poomkudy (Researched at Boston University)
“Elucidating the Effects of Simultaneous Walking and Memory Task Demands on Brain Prioritization of Accuracy in Cognitive and Sensorimotor Functioning” - David Rosenzweig (in house project)
“Awareness and Participation Regarding African Wildlife Conservation: A Demographic Approach” - Krista Chen (Researched at Stony Brook University, Simons Program)
