Wheatley Students Help to Stop Hunger Now During our #DayofService

One of the new activities for this year’s Day of Service and Learning was one that prepared 10,000 meals for families. Led by the Stop Hunger Now meal packaging program, students were introduced to the importance of providing high protein, highly nutritious meals that can be used in a crisis situation or in other family feeding programs. An organizer from Stop Hunger Now brought all of the supplies to Wheatley, prepared the students for their work, and let them in a full-out effort to package 10,000 meals!

Although the students volunteered their labor, the components of the rice-soy meal and packaging necessitate a fee in order to participate in the activity. We are thankful for the generous funding provided by our Wheatley PTO in support of this effort!
