Last spring, 18 Wheatley students spent a week in Peru in the first phase of a new exchange program between Wheatley and El Colegio San José de Monterrico. For the Wheatley students, it was a memorable experience and a highlight of the year.
This past Friday, it was Wheatley’s turn to serve as the host in the exchange. Late Friday afternoon, 18 Peruvian students and three chaperones arrived at JFK to begin ten days in Long Island. Thanks to the generosity of our families, students are being hosted during this extended stay. They have already spent a lot of time together, including a pumpkin decorating party on Saturday night (thanks to the generosity of the Golden family) and trips to New York City.
Earlier this morning, there was a breakfast at Wheatley in order to formally welcome the students and teachers to our community.
