Wheatley Science Olympiads is Heading to States!

On Saturday, the Wheatley Science Olympiad Team headed to Wantagh High School for the Nassau East Regionals. Forty-four teams from around eastern Nassau competed in twenty events hoping to earn a coveted spot at the State Competition in March. After many months of studying and preparing, all of the students’ hard work has paid off: The Wheatley Team came in 3rd place overall and is headed to Le Moyne College in Syracuse to battle the best teams from across the state!

Wheatley’s Science Olympiad Team consists of:

  • Entomology (1st)
  • Fossils (3rd)
  • Game On (2nd)
  • Green Generation (2nd)
  • Invasive Species (1st)
  • It’s About Time (4th)
  • Scrambler (10th)

A big thank you to Mr. Matt Gottlieb, the Junior High Science Olympiad advisor, for traveling with the team to the regional competition. Also, thank you to the whole Science Department for assisting the students with some of their event preparations!
