For those who needed a little time alone to do some holiday shopping, Wheatley’s chapter of the National Honor Society was there to help with an afternoon of babysitting yesterday! For four hours, NHS students kept the children busy with games and arts and crafts. Meanwhile, another group of NHS students were busy performing community service activities. Over 200 ham and cheese sandwiches were made for the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) and scores of surgidolls and friendship bracelets were made for Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Cancer Center.
A huge “Thank You” to all of our NHS student participants! Most particularly, much thanks and appreciation to our NHS advisors, Mrs. Allison Chanin-Bermudez and Mrs. Doreen DeAngelo, for their vision in creating this activity and their willingness to supervise!
(Thanks to Mrs. Chanin-Bermudez for the photos!)
