Jessica Cohen, a member of the Class of 1997, died tragically at the end of her sophomore year in 1995. She was a most special, giving and kind-hearted young lady who did so much for so many. She was always there to lend a helping hand, no matter what the cause. The word “no” did not exist in her vocabulary. Many years ago, Wheatley honored Jessica through the Jessica Cohen Courtyard off of the cafeteria. This courtyard is a beautiful setting in which students can enjoy time with each other.
Each year, we use the Day of Service and Learning as an opportunity to introduce a new group of students to Jessica as they learn to clean up a courtyard. This year’s efforts were led by Rob Gadamowitz, Cynthia Schwartz, Liza Laurino, Lauren Calhoun, Adam Greco, Alanna Marchesi and Jen Segrave. Our Life Skills students were particularly involved in this year’s cleanup!
(Thanks to Mr. Greco and Colin Douglas for many of these photos!)
