The first group of students to leave Wheatley on our Day of Service was the group of students who went to work with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk. Wheatley has had a strong relationship with Habitat of Suffolk for many years, often raising money and awareness for it through our annual EWSD Walk-A-Thon. The students and advisors from our Key Club have worked with the organization most every year.
Led by Key Club co-advisor Jim Abdale, a group of ten students spent the day assisting the licensed builders with some interior work and the placement of the exterior siding. Students enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about all that Habitat of Suffolk does for the community and the big and small ways individuals can assist.
(Thanks to Mr. Abdale for these great photos!)
