Wheatley’s 6th Annual #DayofService is a Tremendous Success!

Wheatley’s 6th Annual Day of Service and Learning took place on Wednesday, 22 October. Students and faculty spread out across Long Island to lend a helping hand in over three dozen different activities. The variety of activities in which our students and faculty engaged is inspiring. Although every Wheatley staff members supports this day through their activity leadership, the overall day of organized by our amazing Day of Service coordinators, Doreen DeAngelo and Kelly McCotter!

Although the weather was miserable in the morning, the rain let up and our outdoor activities were able to proceed as planned!

Students and staff headed out to:

  • Concert at Glen Cove Nursing Home
  • East Williston Beautification Committee and Library
  • Family Service League
  • Garden City Bird Sanctuary
  • Hempstead Plains Restoration

  • Lutheran Church Food Pantry
  • Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism
  • orth Shore Animal League
  • North Side elementary school mentoring
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Rueck Farm
  • Sands Point Preserve
  • Valley Stream Cat Rescue
  • Veteran’s Memorial Maintenance
  • We the People United Corporation
  • Willets Road music mentoring
  • Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk
