A New Addition to the Hallways at Wheatley!

Last week, we were thrilled to a special delivery from the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. The contents of the box? A full-size replica of Rembrandt Peal’s famous “porthole” portrait of George Washington! The cost of this beautifully framed portrait? Free!

A gift of the Mount Vernon’s Educational Outreach division, the purpose of this wonderful program is to provide U.S. schools, government offices and and public libraries with concrete reminder of one of the most important figures in modern American history.

Although Wheatley already has a portrait of  George Washington hanging in our hallways, we are thrilled to have this stunning portrait hanging right outside our main office! Thank you to Dr. John Staudt for drawing my attention to this wonderful opportunity to obtain a free portrait!
