For Anum Mitha, a Wheatley senior, the first day of classes brought with it a certain amount of anxiety. The cause of her anxiety was not her new classes or teacher, but rather the fact that she would be presenting her research findings to a class of students and faculty members at LIU/CW Post.
Over the past year (and under the mentoring of Dr. Martinez), Anum has spent countless hours in the lab investigating the effects of methamphetamine on adaptive immune responses. Her preliminary research earned her recognition last year. Anum’s presentation on this first day of classes at Wheatley earned her praise from all sides. Articulate, personable and convincing in her presentation, Anum made a difficult topic accessible to all.
Congratulations to Anum, and thanks to Mr. Thomas Van Bell, Wheatley’s Science Research teacher, for supporting her work.
