A School for Everyone

Last week, the New York Times published an Op-Ed piece by Susan Engel titled “Let the Kids Rule the School.”  In the piece, Engel describes a school in Western Massachusetts in which students founded and ran their own school within a school. She speaks glowingly about the students in this high school who had an opportunity to “own” their education, determining that this is probably the most important reform that could take place.

Wheatley has had a School within a School for nearly four decades. Students are able to do all those things described in the article. For more information about SWS, visit the website or contact Pat Clarke.
