As part of Health Week, students in Grades 8-11 heard John Halligan present Ryan’s Story, an emotional story told by a father who lost his son to suicide after incessant bullying.
In an assembly that lasted nearly 90 minutes, Mr. Halligan shared the story of his son and the steps that he took after his son’s suicide. It was an emotional presentation that kept our student rapt for the entire time. You can learn more about Ryan’s Story through this link.
Below, please find an overview of the presentation.
On Monday and Tuesday the (9-11) PE teachers and counselors will work in small groups to further discuss the assembly. Grade 8 students will be meeting with their Peer Leaders, along with our social worker, in the Adopt-A-Class program throughout the day on Monday. In addition, further follow-up will occur during English classes as teachers reflect upon the assembly and connect the powerful message to their curriculum.
We are grateful for the work of Mary Harrison, our Director of Guidance, for arranging for this special event.
